That’s no Halloween costume nor is it a prosthetic baby bump! Jessica Simpson has finally confirmed the worst-kept secret in Hollywood – that she is expecting a baby with fiance, former NFL’er Eric Johnson. Simpsontweeted a photo of herself in her super cute Halloween costume, an extravagant, tightly wrapped mummy outfit that emphasized her bulging baby bump! She’s a hot mummy, isn’t she? We love the wild blonde ringlets and smoky makeup.
Simpson, 31, posted “Announcement!” via Twitter and then revealed via a play on words: “It’s true – I’m going to be a mummy!” Her hands are protectively clutching her baby bump, Beyonce-style!
Rumors about Simpson’s pregnancy have been circulating for months, especially when photos of her with an expanding mid-section began to surface. She continued to wear form-fitting clothing, further showing off that bun in the oven!
This will be Simpson’s first child. She and Johnson have been engaged since November of last year.
Simpson has had a rocky romantic road in the public eye for the past few years. Simpson’s famous ex Nick Lachey beat her to the altar, marrying longtime gal pal Vanessa Minnillo over the summer. Simpson has sprinted past him and will start a family first!
Her other big name ex, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, is also expecting a child — a boy, due in April — with wife Candice Crawford. Romo famously broke up with Simpson the night before her 29th birthday in July 2009.
We’re glad Jess is finally happy, healthy and with child! PopCrush extends our congrats to the mummy-to-be.
Whatever she has, it’s going to be a stylish little bugger!
The Biebs‘ holiday album ‘Under the Mistletoe’ drops on Nov. 1 but the teenage dream is already thinking about his next full length, called ‘Believe.’ He dropped a bomb — or is that a brizzy? — and revealed that both Kanye West andDrake will be featured on the album, which follows 2010′s ‘My World 2.0.’
The Biebs revealed the big news to Capital FM, a UK radio station.
Bieber said, “I’m working with a lot of cool people. I’m working with Kanye. Drake is going to work on the album with me.” He also revealed that it’s a carefully measured process, saying, “I just learned about picking the right songs and making sure that I create a sound that people aren’t really used to hearing so that it’s new and fun and people enjoy it.”
There are so many possibilities here. Will Drizzy and The Biebs trade verses? Will Yeezy and The Biebs mix up their flow? Will The Biebs sing while either raps? The sky is the limit. The Biebs is all of 17 and he is already the hottest ticket in music and is surrounded by so many A-listers.
We’ve gotta say it: How about a collab with a female singer, like, maybe Selena Gomez? We heard you may have her number and may even know her a little bit. She’d be great to feature on the album. Wink-wink, nudge-nudge.
The Latin music world’s biggest awards show, the Latin Grammys, just got a little more star-studded: Colombian superstar Shakira has just announced that she’ll be performing.
Shakira, who will be honored as ‘Person of the Year,’ joins the top musical artists from the Spanish-speaking world, including Calle 13, Franco de Vita, and Marco Antonio Solis. Shaki’s album ‘Sale el Sol,’ which spawned singles ‘Loca’ and ‘Rabiosa,’ and also featured a gorgeous cover of the xx’s ‘Islands,’ has sold over 4 million copies worldwide.
The awards, which will take place on Nov. 7 in Las Vegas and will air live on Univision, will be hosted by Lucero, a Mexican singer and actress who has hosted in the awards in previous years. Actress Zoe Saldana has also been confirmed to give out an award.
Shaki is known for her innovative sound and show-stopping performances, so we can’t wait for her performance — although, if she’s an honoree for Person of the Year, you’d think that she would get to take a night off. Either way, the songbird, humanitarian, and all-around superstar is always one to watch — if only it wasn’t for that pesky language barrier! Any Spanish-speaking friends want to come translate for us?
Lil Wayne is on the top of the world right now. With his latest album, ‘Tha Carter IV,’ reaching platinum status in a week, and his Young Money artists Drake and Nicki Minaj achieving monumental success themselves, the 29-year-old rhyme-spitter is certainly one of rap’s busiest go-getters. So it’s shocking to hear that Wayne wants to retire at age 35.
In an interview with GQ magazine as part of their ‘Gods of Rock’ issue, the Young Money leader says he’s ready to hang up the mic in the next six years. “Basically, I have been doing this for eighteen years. That’s reason number one,” he explains to contributing editor Claire Hoffman. “I have accomplished all that I have set out to accomplish and more. Also, I have a label, and I’ve only put out two artists [Drake and Nicki Minaj]. I have a lot more work to do, and it’d be selfish to not focus on being the boss and focus on their projects.”
“But the main reason is my kids, my children,” Weezy adds. “Now, if I thought I’d be selfish to my artists, imagine what I think I would be doing to my kids. I have enough money that they don’t have to ever do anything — which, they will do everything, ’cause they ain’t getting s—t. [cackles wildly] Six [more] years, I can do this Lil Wayne thing, and my boys will be about 7 and 8 years old. And man, it’s all about them then. You know, whatever they’re doing. Sports. Whatever they’re into. That’s where I am. I’m at every game. I’m the dad with the hat on. The jersey. That’s me.”
Wow! Wayne gave an interesting perspective on his decision to retire. It’s also good to see that he wants to enjoy fatherhood after he leaves the rap game, but we still don’t believe him.
Rapper Rick Ross has canceled his concert at Georgia State University that was scheduled for Oct. 21 (Friday) as he continues to recuperate after suffering two separate medical seizures last Friday. The Miami boss was scheduled to headline the GSU’s Homecoming concert, but for obvious reasons, he can’t make it.
The university couldn’t find a replacement in time so they will offer a full refund on all bought tickets. “We are disappointed he had to cancel, but completely understand that Rick Ross needs to take care of himself at this time,” said concerts director George F. Baker III in an official statement. “We hope he is better soon.”
There’s no official confirmation if Ross will appear with Busta Rhymes for a show at L.A. Live (Nokia Theater) in Los Angeles this Sunday. Honestly, Bussa-Buss is a true showman when he’s on the mic, so we think Rozay can sit this one out.
Meanwhile, Ross’ health has been a concern for many of his fans since the incident last week. No one was more worried than Maybach Music Group artist Pill. “I myself and the rest of the MMG, we’re very concerned,” he told DJ Green Lantern on his radio program. “[He's] good right now. Ross [goes] hard, nonstop, pause. He don’t really take no breaks so I think that just was a result of him not taking breaks. But the most he ever needs is a week off and [he's] good.”
Ross’ good friend DJ Khaled also concurs with Pill’s sentiments. The celebrated DJ-producer is now helping the Miami rapper get some much-needed rest. “He is at the crib and is going to rest and just chill until he gets his energy back,” he says. “I told him he has to stay home for two weeks. I told him he has got to just chill and relax. I told him he is a big enough star that he can just stay home. His life is more important.”
Jay-Z and Kanye West has been officially slapped with a lawsuit over a sample they used for a song on their platinum-selling ‘Watch the Throne’ album. Blues legend Syl Johnson has accused the rap duo of sampling his 1967 hit ‘Different Strokes’ for their tune ‘The Joy’ without his permission.
According to MTV, the suit, filed in Illinois federal court on Friday (Oct. 15), states that Hov and Yeezy sampled a portion of his song and did not credit him in the album’s liner notes nor paid him for the use of the sample. Johnson also claims that West originally attempted to use the sample for his ‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’ album but couldn’t get it cleared in time. He is seeking an injunction on all copies of ‘Watch the Throne’ and requests a full accounting of sale and publishing money, along with punitive damages.
As we previously reported back in August, archival label Numero Uno Group posted a letter stating that a lawsuit was eminent if they don’t properly credit Johnson and pay him what he’s owed for the use of the sample. Johnson seems really upset that West didn’t reach out to him first before using the sample for his song. In a television interview with a Chicago news station, the blues guitarist says that the West has worked with him and his daughter (R&B singer Syleena Johnson) before so he’s perplexed by his actions.
Undoubtedly, Eminem songs have firmly placed the emcee in the G.O.A.T. (Greatest Of All Time) status with his venerable career. He's a complete rapper — a freestyle champion, a gifted storyteller, and a phenomenal stage performer as Wolverine can attest.
Another day, another rap feud. This time it looks like Lil Wayne has a bone to pick with rap legend Luther Campbell (aka Uncle Luke), who criticized him and other “out-of-town” rappers of not financially investing into Miami.
In a Miami New Times column, Uncle Luke wrote that he was frustrated with artists such as Weezy, DJ Khaled andDiddy who “[soak] up our sunshine, [take] over the nightclubs, and [sleep] with our women without investing anything into the community.”
He writes: “I want to see Lil Wayne, DJ Khaled, Puff Daddy and all their boys start doing more for Miami. I want to see them doing fundraisers to help youth sports and after school programs. I want to see them at FCAT rallies. I want to see them do like Pitbull who works closely with the Kiwanis Club in Little Havana and DJ Irie who puts on a charity weekend for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Uncle Luke gave the aforementioned rappers until Jan. 1 to invest into the city or else he was going to revoke their “Miami cards” — no more nightclubs, strippers or freebies for them. Granted, Uncle Luke is, undoubtedly, the biggest rap icon from Miami, but does he really have enough juice to kick rappers out of Miami? We’ll have to see in 2012.
On Tuesday, Tunechi jumped on Twitter and responded with this tweet: “This N—a Luke trippin!!! I ain’t feelin khaled rite now neither.” So does Lil Wayne have beef with DJ Khaled, as well? Hopefully, Weezy, Khaled, Diddy and others can sit down with Uncle Luke and work something out.
What do you think? Should “out-of-town” rappers start investing in Miami since they party there all the time? Or is Uncle Luke out of his mind? Respond in the comments below.
Justin Bieber is acknowledging what has seemed obvious for quite a while – he is “in love” with his girlfriend, Selena Gomez.
“I wouldn’t be with somebody if I wasn’t in love,” Bieber tells New! magazine, via MTV UK. He adds that the couple’s relationship in based on a lot more than good looks: “Everybody can see she is hot and that’s great, but there is so much more to her than that. She makes me laugh and she puts up with my practical jokes.”
Teen pop’s power couple have more in common than just being accomplished singers. “We were both raised by our moms in single-parent households,” Bieber adds, “and that’s given us a lot of the same family values in life.”
The ‘Never Say Never’ performer says that he and Gomez have busy schedules but make it a priority to plan “normal things” together. Of course, “normal” is relative when you’re a multi-platinum pop sensation — so while a typical couple might head to the local theater to catch a film, Justin and Selena rent out the entire Staples Center for a movie date or go on stage to sing together in front of thousands of people.
In the constant glare of the spotlight, it’s cool to see these kids continue to make their relationship work, with seemingly no public drama.
It looks like Drake won’t get his birthday wish of offering fans some new music on Oct. 24. The Young Money superstar has announced that he is pushing back the release of his second album ‘Take Care’ from Oct. 24 to Nov. 15. Not only that, he’s also postponing his Club Paradise Tour until 2012.
On his October’s Very Own blog, Drizzy explained that he had to delay the album’s release because of sample clearances. “So I have completed 19 songs (17 on physical and 2 on bonus), and have run into a roadblock of clearing 3 samples in time to make the October 24th date,” he wrote. “My options were to take the songs off and make the birthday release happen, or to take an extra couple weeks to get the paper work right and give you the album they way I NEED you to hear it.”
Drake also postponed his Club Paradise Tour until after the holiday season. The R&B crooner plans to release a revised list of tour dates next week.
Read Drake’s entire message below:
The new date for Take Care is November 15th, 2011. I managed to create this album in my hometown of Toronto and the thoughts and stories I wanted to get across just became so clear. It truly felt like when I was here 3 years ago making So Far Gone. So I have completed 19 songs (17 on physical and 2 on bonus), and have run into a roadblock of clearing 3 samples in time to make the October 24th date. My options were to take the songs off and make the birthday release happen, or to take an extra couple weeks to get the paper work right and give you the album they way I NEED you to hear it. The choice was clear as day for me. November 15th you will get Take Care the exact way I created it with no trimmings. This music means too much to me to get attached to dates and I do apologize for the delay but I promise that it is only for the benefit of our experience together. Club Paradise Tour will also be moved to when students are back from the Christmas/New Year break so that I can get to more schools. New dates will be released in the next week…see you all soon.
Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins opens up about her recent health scare and her perseverance to overcome the challenges she had to face while living with sickle cell anemia. The veteran songbird of the multi-platinum group TLC went through some major obstacles in her life, but miraculously, she is alive today to talk about it.
In an interview with CNN’s Dr. Sanjay Gupta, T-Boz recalls a time when doctors told her that her prognosis with sickle cell anemia was grim. “Doctors, they didn’t give me a happy ending,” she says. “You won’t live past 30, you’ll be disabled your whole life. You’ll never have kids. I was looking around the room like, ‘I don’t know who he’s talking to cause that’s not my story.’”
Five years ago, the 41-year-old singer received even more bad news when doctors told her she had a non-cancerous brain tumor. T-Boz was able to find a surgeon who successfully removed the tumor but it has left her with a side effect of having a poor sense of balance. T-Boz is not letting that setback bring her down. She is currently recording a new album of inspirational songs.
In the end, T-Boz relies heavily on her faith and her strength to overcome her fears in life. “At the end of the day, I do think there’s a higher power and the way I feel about things and choose to do things has an effect on that outcome,” she states. “If you want to live, you have to face your fears. I had to learn a lot about myself during the situation with my brain tumor. The hardest thing was waiting to see what kind of brain tumor I had and getting back to where I am today. I’ve been through a lot with sickle-cell, but my recovery from the brain tumor was THE hardest thing. I’m proud of myself for seeing this through and to be here for my daughter. You have to make a commitment to yourself and that was important to me.”
It looks like Game and 50 Cent are rekindling their heated rivalry once again. After Fiddy released a song called ‘Love Hate, Loves,’ in which he takes lyrical jabs at Game and Lil Wayne, the Compton, Calif., rapper is ready to fire back with his own diss record.
Just to give this story some background. In early 2005, Game entered a feud with 50 Cent after he was booted out of G-Unit due to creative differences. It led to a few diss songs before it escalated into violence when one of Game’s cronies was shot outside of a New York radio station.
Afterward, 50 Cent and Game held a press conference to announce their reconciliation and end the violence between the two camps. Despite squashing their beef, occasionally, G-Unit would criticize Game and claim that he had no street credibility. Meanwhile, Game would respond by calling them “G-Unot.”
Fast-forward to 2011, and 50 claims on ‘Love Hate, Loves,’ that he wrote Game’s most successful tracks. On the song the New York rapper spits, “You forgot about me b—h / I write your hits / ‘You Know How We Do,’ ‘You Hate it or Love it’ / N—a f— it I’m “special” that’s why your a– say my verse / “You Hate it or Love it”/ They love me and hate me again.”
After hearing Fiddy’s diss track, Game jumped on Twitter and promise to give him a lyrical a—whipping. “@50Cent I’m on tour doin shows but soon as @avanterose find a studio for me I’m killin yo “Planet Of The Apes” face havin a– n—a. #MEunit,” he tweeted on Sept. 29.
We haven’t heard anything from Game, as of yet. When it comes to dissing matches, the Louboutin Don is always up for the challenge. We have to wait and see where this will go. Although we loathe rap feuds, 50 and Game’s rivalry has peaked out interest.
